Music Lessons at K Music Academy

Music Lesson Information

What We Believe
We believe that the best way to learn music is with one-on-one, private instruction. Each lesson is tailored individually, for the way the student learns best. We take into account age, experience, personality, and learning style. We teach ages 5 - adult! It's never "too late" to learn how to play music.

One-on-one attention
Students in private lessons are able to learn the type of music they personally are most interested in.  Our teachers can focus 100% of their attention on that one student to ensure that hand positioning, posture or the understanding of a particular concept are correct.  If a student has a particular difficulty in one area, the teacher can work on it without hampering the progress of a class of students and alternatively, if a student is excelling in one area, the teacher can move on.

Our school is equipped to offer music lessons for students of all ages and abilities, from beginners to very advanced students.  We offer every style of lessons from classical to jazz and pop.

We teach using the Russian method
At K Music Academy, our instructors who teach using the Russian method are highly trained and experienced in this approach. The Russian method of teaching music is known for its rigorous and disciplined approach to music education. It emphasizes the development of technique, musicality, and expression from the very beginning stages of learning an instrument. They use a combination of traditional methods and modern techniques to help students build a solid foundation in music theory, ear training, and performance skills. The Russian method is particularly effective for students who are serious about pursuing a career in music or who want to excel in their instrument. It can also be beneficial for students who are interested in developing a strong foundation in music and learning how to play with precision and expression. If you're interested in learning more about our Russian method of teaching at K Music Academy, please don't hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and schedule a lesson with one of our experienced instructors.

How do the Holidays work with consistent monthly tuition?
You will receive an average of 4 lessons per month.  Monthly tuition is based on a 48 week  year.  We are closed four weeks for holidays. In the long months, you will get five lessons.

The tuition is the SAME each month i.e. we don’t charge you more when you have five lessons, and we don’t charge you less when you have three lessons in a month.  This makes everyone’s accounting easier.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN MUSIC LESSONS?
Our teachers understand that every student is an individual, with personal musical needs and goals. We make it a priority to tailor how we teach and what we teach to your individual needs.

If you enroll here for lessons, your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child. Together, you will develop a plan to achieve your goals! We love beginners, so even if you don't know where to begin, we can help!

WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC CAN I LEARN?
We teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, worship, blues and classical. We combine the important fundamentals with the music YOU want to play. With at least 2 teachers on each instrument you are sure to find the best match for YOU.

ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS QUALIFIED?
Our instructors are highly qualified, all have teaching/music experience, and most importantly, they have a passion for teaching. Being a musician doesn't automatically make you a teacher--that's why we search for those who are best qualified for mentoring our music students!

We search the Pasadena area for the top teachers who embody the high values at K Music Academy. Most importantly, our instructors strive to relate their teaching to each individual student's learning style.

Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours in the USA and Europe and have years of professional performance and teaching experience.

In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student and their parents on a personal level. We search high and low for the BEST teachers, so you don't have to!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN AN INSTRUMENT?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice, a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.

I DON’T HAVE ANY MUSICAL BACKGROUND OR ABILITY. CAN I STILL HELP MY CHILD PRACTICE?
Yes. Even if you don't have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child's music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands.
